Creating inclusive and accessible learning environments is not only a legal and ethical imperative but also a pedagogical necessity that promotes the holistic development of students, prepares them for a diverse world, and contributes to the building of a more equitable and compassionate society.
Utilize the “STEM Station Planning Template” to create four inclusive STEM stations. Include the following stations in your planning:
Station 1: Allows an opportunity for hands-on student experimentation.
Station 2: Allows opportunities for student-to-student collaboration.
Station 3-4: Incorporates developmentally appropriate technology tools/resources.
Each station should explore a different technology tool/resource.
Identify 2-3 academic standards from STEM disciplines and construct 2-3 learning objectives students will work towards during the station activities.
Include the standards language in its entirety along with any performance indicators.
For each station you plan include the following:
Activity: Name and a short explanation of the activity.
Directions: Step-by-step student directions for completing the station.
Materials: List all materials needed for the station. Include any links or pictures of any materials created that are needed for the activity.
21st-Century Skills: Explain how the station supports students in developing and practicing essential 21st century skills.
Accessible and Inclusive: Discuss specific strategies and/or supports needed at the station to ensure it is accessible and inclusive for students with varying abilities, backgrounds, and learning needs.
Support your assignment with a minimum of two scholarly resources.
